POST 1: An intro to my WLE: January 6th

I did not go to job shadow day because i did not have an internship yet but now as of January 11, 2010, i now have an internship. The organization i am working for is Karen Bevels Catering.

POST 2: First Day On The Job

On my first official dat at my internship I spent the first few hours filing, and sorting accting documents. But while I was doing this Karen and one of her co-workers, Alisha, were making calls and there was one important call that was going on for atleast 20 minutes. Karen asked me was i listening to the conversation they were having with the people on the phone and I was but I didn't want to seem nosey so I said no but then  she said, "You should start listening because this is what may happen if you get your own business.". Then after the phone converstation was over she explained to me on how and what "operating at a loss" means. In her and Alisha's situation, i understand how they were going through that. Around 12 or 1 p.m. it was then time to eat lunch and it was just me and Karen in the kitchen because Alisha wasn't feeling to well so she went home. While in the kitchen eating food and drinking coffee, we had a question and answer deal going on about business, and chefing. It was very interesting and I will always remember her stories on how she came up successfully. Finally after lunch it was back to the filing work and taking all files out, sorting and organizing every document in one out of the two cabinets. Completed all of that then it was time to go but Karen and her other employers Hector and another lady were about to start preparing a mini meal because there is going to be a wedding and the couple want to taste the food. Karen asked me to stay and of course i did stay and took lots and lots of mental notes on how every thing was made in which order and made so fashionably. Even i helped prepare some of the food witch I was very excited for. The skills i learned were kitchen prep, taste testing, chopping, peeling, practicing knife skills. All in all everything went great and the couple loved the food.
The whole day I was busy. No down time because to me everything was in critical condition and had to be done a.s.a.p.. I do not have any more questions for Karen at the moment but I know I will at my next day on the job.

POST 3: Day Three.

Since I was not at my internship January 27th, I was with another student helping them to find their own intership so the can be on track. I did not attend my internship because my mentor was on a family trip and the employees had the day off to and no one was going to be there so she told me I did not have to come today.

Post 4: Day Four

February 3, 2010. This day was very short for me. When i first got there Karen was in a meeting with the person she hired to help her with accounting and other relative things like that. So when she had a moment to talk to me she gave me an assignment to do in the meanwhile. That assignment was to organize the shelves with all the sauces, spices, sugar and etc. This took me atleast two hours to do because each shelf i had to take every little thing off of it and organize it to the best of my ability and it waz five shelves on one rack. But in the end i finished and i did a very good job because Karen said i did an "Awesome job.". Then I got to talk a little with the person she was having a meeting with for a little while and they both informed me on why he was there helping her. After that conversation Karen and the other person (i think his name is John) gave me the best advice i really needed to know. They told me if i really want to b n cheffing or any other culinary field the best thing to go to college for is for business. And i never thought of it going to college for business but it's best for me because i can do cooking at any given time nd that can be my side bar while I'm in college studying business. Once again i left to make sure everything looked well and dandy and then i seen Nida at the door and i welcomed her in. i showed her around everywhere and then we started to talk about the project i can be doing. Afterwards Karen finally got out of her meeting and Karen, Nida, and I sat down and started to discuss the projects i can do for her. Finally everything was all done and Karen let me go because she had to be some where and Nida gave me a ride home. We also had a wonderful conversation about oldies music for example Marvin Gaye's music and we started to talk about me not every watching The Wiz and Purple Rain. The End.

Intro Post: How I got my WLE: Oct 26th.

My journey to find a WLE was pretty difficult because i wanted to intern at a counseling business but i came to the thought that i won't be able to do because eveything is really confidential. so then i just went back to catering for Karen at Karen Bevels Custom Catering. I used resourceful problem solving  to find my old internship. Location is on West Winton Avenue.
